Rose Telfer - Front Desk Volunteer

Awareness, Acceptance and Adjustment.
Those wise words are a mantra that Rose Telfer will share with anyone who needs it.  If you spend much time at Wellspring, you will come to know Rose.  She will be working at the desk or attending volunteer events.  Her welcoming and comforting smile has become a fixture at both Odette House and Wellspring Westerkirk House at Sunnybrook.

Rose came to Wellspring in its early days.  Her husband, Keith, taught Yoga, and when he heard they were looking for a receptionist, he suggested that Rose volunteer.  It was an ideal partnership from the start; “Wellspring is my main community" she says.  "If anything is hurting me, I know I'll forget about it at Wellspring."

Although Rose has never had cancer, she came to Wellspring having lost a daughter to cancer.  Both her parents battled the disease when Rose was young so she certainly understands the devastation cancer causes to the patient's family and has offered invaluable help as a caregiver support person.
