Karen, one of Wellspring Chinguacousy’s longest-serving volunteers, was diagnosed with cancer in 2006.\u00a0 <\/em>She immediately turned to her best friend Donna for comfort.\u00a0 Donna, a retired nurse, did what best friends do best \u2013 she held Karen\u2019s hand, listened, reminded her to breath deeply and cried with her.\u00a0 Most importantly, she made Karen feel that she was not alone in her cancer ordeal.<\/p>\n

Donna is not just Karen\u2019s hero-of-the-moment.\u00a0 These two \u2018troublemakers\u2019 (by their own definition) have a lifelong history of caring for each other and being together through good times and bad \u2013 helping with kids, Karen\u2019s mom and a myriad of life\u2019s challenges.\u00a0 Coffee and laughter are their superpowers.<\/p>\n
