Cancervive 2020 ~Support Vic Mitchell~

The Cancervive Cycle Tour is an annual charity bike ride that benefits Wellspring centres in both Calgary and Edmonton.  This year, the ride is taking place between September 24th – 29th in Osoyoos, B.C.   Riders will cover a total of 400+ kilometres in 4 days, and each rider is committed to raising a minimum of $3,000.00.  The Cancervive Foundation covers all costs for the riders and volunteers, so that 100% of the money raised by the cyclists goes directly to programs and support services at Wellspring.

We are very happy to announce that, once again, Vic Mitchell has registered to participate in the Cancervive Cycle Tour to raise money for Wellspring in Edmonton!

Below is a message from Vic:

Support the Cancervive 2020 Bike Ride

When I signed up for the 2020 Cancervive Ride, I decided that, rather than just raising the minimum $3,000.00 as required by all riders, my fundraising goal for this year’s ride will be $10,000.00!  Being a Wellspring Volunteer, I know how many great programs are offered to help patients, families and caregivers throughout their cancer journeys – and what’s involved in maintaining those programs.

Wellspring, like many other organizations, has been forced to cancel most of its fundraising events this year due to Covid 19 restrictions, which makes it even more important for supporters to join in and donate to the 2020 Cancervive Ride.  There are over 2,000 members in Wellspring Edmonton – if each member were to donate just $10, we could double my goal to $20,000.00!  If, however, you donate $20 or more, you will receive a charitable donation tax receipt.

I have already started training for the 2020 ride, and I’m pleased to announce that my partner, Carol Donald, will be volunteering again with the ride support team.

In the event that, due to unforeseen Covid related circumstances, the ride is cancelled, I will give donors my personal undertaking that I will complete the 400+ km planned ride distance in local rides in the Edmonton area during the week in which the ride was scheduled.

Wellspring’s mission statement is that ‘NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH CANCER ALONE’, and as a cancer survivor I know the amazing difference support can make.

I’m grateful for donations of any amount, and they can be made either online at www.cancervive.ca , or by mailing a cheque to:
