Wellspring Edmonton Centre/ Volunteer Manager

Wellspring Edmonton is a non-profit organization offering emotional, social, educational and restorative support to those living with cancer and the people who care for them.  Volunteers are the heart of Wellspring Edmonton providing support to every level of the organization.

Reporting to the CEO, the Centre Manager/Volunteer Manager will play a strong role as an ambassador and facilitator for the organization and its resources, ensuring that everyone who visits or collaborates with Wellspring Edmonton has a positive experience.

Key responsibility areas include:

Centre Management

  • Manage the centre to ensure quality cost efficient operations in a welcoming warm environment
  • Oversee all day to day operations and activities of the centre
  • Participate in the strategic and operational planning processes
  • Develop processes and procedures to promote effective operations and a positive experience for members
  • Provide input into the annual budget and monitor expenditures to ensure adherence to budget
  • Maintain accurate program records and provide timely statistical and activity reports
  • Manage the maintenance of website and social media
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and other documentation for the Board of Directors and other Wellspring Committees

Volunteer Coordination

  • Direct, mobilize and oversee a broad and evolving volunteer base
  • Assess and meet the organization’s needs through the recruitment, training, placement, management and scheduling of volunteers
  • Develop and implement administrative systems, procedures and policies for volunteers
  • Provide coaching, support and supervision to volunteers, sustaining an atmosphere of care and appreciation
  • Designate volunteer mentors and work with them to provide necessary structure, assistance and resources to volunteer groups
  • Ensure high volunteer engagement

Program Coordination

  • Support the Program Director in all aspects of administration in planning, scheduling, delivery and evaluation of programs and special projects
  • Coordinate facilitator onboarding including contract administration
  • Liaise with facilitators to ensure all required resources are available and in place
  • Participate in the planning, organization and execution of special events

Qualifications

  • Degree from post secondary institution complemented with a minimum of 5 years experience in a related position in a non profit environment
  • Respectful, flexible and warm demeanor
  • A commitment to collaboration with proven ability to work with diverse partners (volunteers, staff, facilitators, committees, patients and families) who have unique needs and priorities
  • Demonstrated management/organizational skills including the ability to advance work on multiple projects
  • Excellent computer skills, proven ability to manage a website and track statistics. Experience with customer relations management software (Raisers Edge is used at Wellspring) would be an asset
  • Able to work occasional weekends and evenings
  • This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search
