Join us for Giving Tuesday…
A few weeks ago, you heard from Sharon and Darryl Baron about how Wellspring Edmonton changed their lives and how they chose to make a monthly contribution to give back. You too may have been inspired to Pay It Forward by making a donation of your own, and for that we thank you!
In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, today we share another Wellspring Edmonton story that demonstrates our mission in action.
Stories like Candace’s…

Seven years ago, I received a call that would change my life forever. At the age of 38 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After having my breast and lymph nodes removed, two breast reconstruction surgeries, numerous biopsies, and more than 70 rounds of chemo, I now live with stage IV metastatic cancer. This means I will be in treatment for the rest of my life.
Every day I work hard to be the healthiest mom, wife and cancer patient I can be. It is not always easy, but I have no choice. I have a husband and son who need me – and I am not ready to leave them.
A year ago, my situation was grim. Then, I was accepted into the Alberta Cancer Exercise program (ACE) at Wellspring. The ACE program is essentially a “prescription” for exercise to help cancer patients increase their stamina, feel better and live better during and after cancer treatment. It changed my life. Twice a week I visit Wellspring, where I work alongside other cancer patients and learn from specially trained ACE staff, who understand the effects of cancer treatments and customize the program for each person.
I am so grateful for this program and for Wellspring Edmonton. For me and for others, it is all about extending time and gaining another precious day.
Wellspring Edmonton only opened its doors 10 months ago. They have been overwhelmed by the response of cancer patients like me, who want to participate in the health restoring programs, like exercise and yoga, and more. Wellspring does a wonderful job, but they need your help. Please consider Paying It Forward so others like me can continue to benefit from these programs.
Wellspring Edmonton programs are accessible to everyone facing cancer and are offered to patients and families at no cost. That said, the programs and services do come with a cost. With no government or community based funding, we are so grateful to people like you for your incredible generosity.
On this Giving Tuesday we invite you along with your friends and family to Pay It Forward and share our stories so that other patients and families can benefit from Wellspring programs.
