Collaborative Journey Quilt
Program Lead: Brenda Boychuk
Please come join us in making a collaborative quilt that when complete will be hung in the Healing Garden at Cross Cancer Institute. We will be choosing a keyword that will be used as inspiration for you to create your applique block. When the blocks are created they will be combined into a quilt. Applique blocks can be completed by hand or by using a sewing machine. Different fiber media can be used to create the texture and appearance that expresses your connection to the theme.
For the first class please bring small sharp scissors that can be used for detailed cutting of fabric.
This program allows Wellspring members to express themselves artistically while bonding with other members. Working with fabric gives members a chance to focus on their creative instincts, which usually creates space from day-to-day stress.
About Program Lead:
Brenda started quilting as a young girl while staying with her grandmother over school holidays. Since then she has taken numerous quilting and sewing classes throughout Canada and the United States. Throughout the years, Brenda has sewn clothes for herself and her daughters has made enough dance costumes to dress a small army, and has made so many quilts that she has lost count! Her current passion is making bed-sized paper pieced quilts. She loves the intricacy and design that can be accomplished with paper piecing. She still gets together with her grandmother regularly, where they spend their time quilting and talking.
