The Wellspring Edmonton Bereavement Support Group is for anyone who has lost a loved one because of cancer.
What is happening to me?
Bereaved family and friends often experience a variety of emotional, physical, behavioral, mental, social, and spiritual responses to the death of a loved one. Shock, disbelief, anger, guilt, forgetfulness, difficulty concentrating, loss of purpose, etc. are just some of the common ones. The Group provides a safe place for members to share their experiences, get answers to some of their troubling questions, and begin rebuilding their lives so their experience does not consume their every thought and they can find peace again.
Who attends the Group?
Although the roads that lead families to the Group vary, the results are similar—the loss of hopes and dreams for the future. The Group is for all bereaved adult loved one ’s regardless of sex, ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic status.
What happens in the meeting?
Participants informally discuss their experiences as they learn from and give support to each other, expressing themselves through both words and art. The Group leader is Worth Kilcrease MA, MBA, LPC, FT, a Licensed Professional Counselor from Texas and a certified expert in end-of-life and bereavement counseling.
When and where does the Group meet?
The Group is a “closed” group, meaning the same individuals attend all meetings. This allows the members to become secure with one another and to delve more deeply into those issues troubling them most. We limit the size of the Group to no fewer than six and no more than ten individuals. We usually meet for eight consecutive weeks from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. on the same day of the week. Members can repeat the Group if they desire. We hold the groups multiple times during the year at the Wellspring Edmonton
The session will be hosted by Worth Kilcrease MBA. MA. LPC. FT., Bereavement Specialist.
Registration is required along with a commitment to attend all sessions.
