Virtual Intuitive Painting

Program Lead: Shirley Witholt

This creative art process parallels life in deeply powerful ways. Listening to self, trusting our inner voice, and having a sense of being guided and loved are in both life and art. In this class we will explore, experiment, and play, giving ourselves permission to discover and learn as we go  There at no mistakes, only happy accidents.

“There is an indwelling, underlying creative power infusing all of life, including ourselves. When we open ourselves to our creativity, we open ourselves to the Great Creator with us and within in us.”  Julia Cameron, HEARTSTEP

Suggested Supply list for On-Line Intuitive Painting:

This class allows for individual choice and preferences when it comes to materials used. The following suggestions are pretty basic.

Weeks 1 and 2

Participants can choose to work on canvas or watercolour paper.  Mixed media or acrylic paper can be used as well. Also, participants can choose the size they wish to work with.

Acrylic paint – red, blue, yellow, white, and black. I generally mix a lot of white with my colours, so I suggest buying a larger size of white.

A bottle of gloss medium.

Regular brushes and sponge brushes (variety of sizes), roller.

Something to spread the paint with, such as palette knife, spatula, old credit card,, or a plastic straight edge.

Mark making tools that you may have around the house, such as pencils, wooden toothpicks, plastic forks, anything that will create marks and texture on wet paint.

Week 3

We will use the same materials as in weeks 1 and 2 but we will add some collage to our our paintings.  Start collecting paper, all kinds of paper!

Week 4

I will introduce art stencils, both store bought and hand made. You can buy art stencils at Michael’s, art stores, and Amazon. Also, you might want to check out the Stencil Girl website. They have about 1800 stencils you can look at. They are American, so quite expensive, but interesting to look at. Molding paste is great to use with stencils if you’d like to get some, but it’s optional.

Weeks 5 and 6

We will continue to work with all our materials in creative fun ways. In my class I will show you some materials I use that I didn’t include in this list just because it will be easier to show you.
