Inside Story: Diana Petrova

Diana was a caregiver for her mother when she first attended Wellspring Chinguacousy.  Having learned about Wellspring through their hospital, Diana and her mother, Elisaveta both began attending a variety of programs together, including Nourish, Relaxation and Visualization and Yoga. “That’s when I realized how busy the centre was and I wanted to help,” says Diana.  “Having gone through the journey with my mother, I feel I know how people are feeling and I can really relate to what they are going through. I believe I can help them.”

Diana began volunteering at Wellspring Chinguacousy in 2013 as a Nourish volunteer and then became a front desk volunteer. Additionally, Diana helps with outreach and sits on numerous committees that help organize fundraising events for the centre such as Light Up Wellspring and the Big Walk for Cancer Support.

“Volunteering is important to me,” says Diana.  “At Wellspring there is such a great sense of community and I enjoy getting to know everyone at the centre.”

“Wellspring Chinguacousy is near and dear to my heart and I just want to help as much and in any way that I can,” says Diana. “Even though my mother is no longer with us, whenever I volunteer, I can still feel her presence at the centre, which gives me great comfort.”
