Short-term Counselling for Children & Teens
Short-term Counselling provides a timely assessment by an experienced health care professional on matters pertaining to cancer and the challenges it can raise for a child or teenager. The professional counsellor will initially meet with the child’s/ teen’s parent or guardian to discuss the specific needs of the child/ teen. Then the counsellor will meet privately with the child/ teen to talk about their feelings and challenges, and determine strategies for ways to cope and move forward. They will also make referrals to other community resources if long term support is needed. Short-term Professional Counselling is the only Wellspring Niagara service that requires a referral, and can be accessed through the Peer Support program.
Registration or Appointment Required: This program requires a commitment to attend all sessions.
