Short-term Professional Counselling
Persons diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones face profound and difficult issues (i.e., family, career, treatment) as a result of the diagnosis, and must deal with these issues in a state of emotional or psychological crisis. Short-Term Professional Counselling delivers timely access to a professional for assessment of serious personal issues that may require referral and long-term intervention that is beyond the purview of Wellspring’s mandate (e.g., psychiatric intervention; substance abuse program).
The Short Term Professional Counselling program is intended to provide a way for members to be seen by a professional when:
- a serious matter related to cancer is identified or suspected (e.g. clinical depression, suicidal thoughts)
- a matter not directly related to cancer is identified (e.g. substance abuse, marital problems) and the person expresses a wish for help on that matter
Registration or Appointment Required: This program requires a commitment to attend all sessions.
