Well on the Web is an extension of the programs available in the Wellspring Centres across the country, enabling those who live far from a physical centres, or those not well enough to leave their homes, with access to Wellspring’s special brand of care and support.

Halifax- Yoga (@ The Sobey Cancer Support Centre)

Yoga is an ancient and well-known health practice. It can help exercise control over physical and emotional well-being by combining movements, breathing, stretching, body poses and meditation practice. Wellspring Yoga is specifically for patients who are in the process of regaining their general health and wellness during and following cancer. The program includes demonstration of various yoga poses that use meditation and breathing techniques and members can follow along only to the extent they are able.

Meet our instructors:

 

Brian Taylor has been a yoga practitioner for over 15 years and has obtained a 200-hour certification as a Kripalu style yoga instructor from Atlantic Yoga Teacher Training. He currently teaches classes for Halifax Recreation, Nova Scotia Hospital, Nova Scotia Cancer Centre, SMUFit at Saint Mary’s University and Chair Yoga with Northwood Community Recreation and Wellness.
In addition, to his “practice on the mat”, on Fridays Brian sings with the St. Matthew’s Lunch Bunch and with the NSH Mental Health Choir.

 

Alesia Komarnisky is a Yoga Teacher, a Mom, and an Artist. She believes that everyone deserves to feel good everyday! Yoga is the tool she uses to help. Alesia teaches a variety of classes, all from an accessible, and trauma informed perspective.
Certified in Hatha Vinyasa, Senior’s, Chair, Yin, Prenatal, Postnatal, and Laughter Yoga. Alesia is also a former NSCAD student, whether it’s in the Yoga Studio, or Art Studio, Alesia is creative at heart, and she has a solution so that every body can practice yoga.

 

 

Drop in program

Drop-In Program: This program requires no ongoing commitment and is especially helpful for those who are not feeling well, are in treatment or are coping with symptoms that make commitment difficult.
