Canada Pension Plan Disability Benefits

Canada Pension Plan  – Disability Benefits (CPP Disability or CPPD) is a Federal Government income replacement program that pays monthly benefits to people who have contributed to CPP in the past, and are now unable to work due to a disability.

To be eligible for CPP Disability you must meet 2 criteria:

  • You must have contributed to CPP in 4 of the last 6 years (or 3 of the last 6 years as long as you have at least 25 years of contribution)

  • You have a severe and prolonged disability that impacts your ability to do any work and will last greater than a year.

The amount you will receive from CPPD depends on how many years you have contributed. The average CPPD payment is about $940/month and the maximum is about $1314/month. CPPD is a taxable benefit.

Many cancer patients find the CPPD application process overwhelming and need guidance. Wellspring has assisted hundreds of clients to complete and submit the CPPD application, at no charge.
