Be Well Talks: Men’s Speaker Series
This is a 5 part Be Well Talk series, in collaboration with Wellspring London.
Please note, this live series is open to men only. All are welcome to view the session recordings afterwards, and they will be made available on the Self-Paced Learnings section of the website. Registration for this series is ongoing and will be open from June to September, and you will only need to register once to attend any of the talks listed. Attending all sessions is encouraged but not necessary.

The Wellspring Men’s Speaker Series offers expert speakers covering topics for men in an effort to come together to hear how you can improve your own health while supporting each other in the cancer journey.
This series will be moderated by Dr.Jeff Reiss, cancer survivor and Professor of Psychiatry at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University.

Dr. Bauman will share information on common cancers that are often associated with men, including cancers that are typically seen with malignancies, and discuss traditional treatments that are used in these cases.

A cancer diagnosis can be extremely stressful on it’s own, but financial considerations add another level of complexity. Join our Social Worker, Ilene Shiller, to answer questions about financial options that may be available. Ilene can share more about the Money Matters Program at Wellspring where case managers can offer more in-depth advice.
Talk #4: Residual Effects of Cancer Treatment and Fear of Recurrence

Dr. Rutledge takes us through some of the residual effects of radiation and chemotherapy treatments, what to expect with physical and emotional changes, and understanding the fear that exists with the possibility of a recurrence and the question of, what if my cancer comes back?
Talk #5: Living with Cancer: The Importance of Exercise and Nutrition

Maintaining your mental and physical health is vitally important whether you are a caregiver, supporting someone with cancer, or a cancer survivor yourself. JP Raman (and partner) will take us through the importance of exercise and how it relates to cancer therapy, as well as the significance of nutrition and balanced diets to optimize health outcomes.
