Body Image Awareness Seminar
If you are an individual living with cancer, post-treatment, you are invited to participate in a new 6-week program on Positive Body Image called Body Image Awareness Seminar(BIAS). This program is being offered as part of a research study being undertaken through Brock University.
The program is 6-weeks in duration and will take place once a week, for 90 minutes per session. BIAS is designed to be an interactive, activity and discussion-based group program where you will have the opportunity to share your experiences and learnings with other members of the group. All sessions will be hosted on Zoom. Before and after the program you will complete a few short questionnaires (electronically) on body image and quality of life so we can see the effects of the program on these outcomes. You will also be invited to participate in a virtual one-on-one interview with one of the researchers, after the program, if you want to share more about your experience through conversation. A breakdown of each week’s topic can be found below:
Seminar 1: Introduction to body image
Seminar 2: Myths & truths about body image & introduction to positive body image
Seminar 3: Social influences on body image
Seminar 4: Individual differences in body image
Seminar 5: Respecting the body
Seminar 6: Program conclusion
Please note that your participation in Wellspring programming is in no way impacted by your choice to either participate in this study or not.
Note: This study has received ethics clearance through Brock University Research Ethics Board (REB file #20-201). The principal investigator is Dr. Kimberley Gammage (firstname.lastname@example.org).
