Healing Journey Level 6: Healing Through The Mind
This advanced course, led online by Dr. Alastair Cunningham, via video-conferencing. The program is designed for graduates of Healing Journey Level 3 or above who want to explore, in more depth, the potential of their own minds to assist in healing. The course uses a manual describing a series of weekly topics to guide the work, and assignments for home study are suggested most weeks.
Leaders: Dr. Alastair Cunningham, assisted by other professionals and HJ veterans.
Time, place and eligibility: Tuesday mornings, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Zoom. Open to anyone who has completed levels 1-3 of the Healing Journey (it may be an advantage to have done levels 4 and 5, but this is not essential).
The workbook for Healing Journey Level 6 (“Healing Through the Mind”) can be downloaded for free. The course consists of two consecutive 12-session series. The first session runs from September to November and the second session runs from February to June. You can enroll for both, or just for the first, with the option of continuing if you so decide.
The first part of the course, that is, the first 12 sessions, reviews much of the basic material in earlier Healing Journey courses on skillful management of our thinking, and takes these topics a bit further. Having examined the importance of our beliefs in creating our experience of life, we then explore the logic behind using beliefs to promote healing effects in the body, as well as in the mind. As part of this process, we look at motivation and reasons for living, and address the “interface” between the ego mind and the deeper levels (Inner or Higher Self). We suggest projects to do at home, and these are discussed in small groups at the following session.
In the second part we learn about dream analysis, and about spiritual aspects of healing, drawing from spiritual texts in a variety of traditions. We also explore events in our lives, how they may have contributed to ill health, and how to change these patterns now. We briefly discuss “sub-personalities”, and some ideas on the nature of the self that go beyond the conventional.
