Pancreatic Cancer Short Term Professional Counselling
Persons diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and their loved ones face profound and difficult challenges (i.e., family, career, treatment) and must deal with these challenges in a state of emotional or psychological ‘crisis’. Short-Term Professional Counselling delivers timely access to a professional for an assessment of serious personal issues that may require a referral and long-term intervention that is beyond the purview of Wellspring’s mandate (e.g., psychiatric intervention; substance abuse program). The Short Term Professional Counselling program is intended to provide a way for members to be seen by a professional when:
- a serious matter related to cancer is identified or suspected (e.g. clinical depression, suicidal thoughts)
- a matter not directly related to cancer is identified (e.g. substance abuse, marital problems) and the person expresses a wish for help on that matter.
At this time, appointments are only available by telephone
Wellspring is grateful to Pancreatic Cancer Canada for providing the funding to make these appointments available to those in need.
