Why J.A. Clancy is riding for the 2022 Wellspring Ride for Cancer Support: The Atlantic Challenge
From August 20 – 27, dedicated riders will journey 3,000 km from Toronto to Halifax through the Wellspring Ride for Cancer Support: The Atlantic Challenge.
Here’s why one rider, J.A. Clancy, is making the ride:
“This September marks 10 years since I was diagnosed with Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia (WM), a rare type of blood cancer. Having lost my brother Bill at age 62 in July of 2020 after his 3-year journey with Multiple Myeloma, and my sister Maureen at age 61 in Sept of 2021 after her 3-year journey with lung cancer, I’ve both lived and witnessed the impact that cancer has on people’s lives, and their families, friends and loved ones. It’s also not lost on me – how fortunate I am to be living such a high-quality life provided through support, education, treatments, and advanced targeted therapies that are effectively managing my WM. To give back and pay it forward, this year I have made a commitment to raise over $10,000 for Wellspring by participating in the 2022 Atlantic Challenge, cycling from Mississauga to Halifax. I will dedicate my ride in memory of my brother Bill and my sister Maureen and to their families who lost so much all too soon.”
