Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation Receives Transformational $2 Million Bequest Gift from Karen Green

Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation has received a generous $2 million bequest gift from Karen Green, a devoted long-time donor and former member of Wellspring. This remarkable contribution will significantly enhance the organization’s ability to provide critical support to individuals and families affected by cancer.

Karen Green’s personal journey with cancer led her to discover Wellspring, where she found solace, understanding, and the support she desperately needed. Her impactful gift will leave a lasting legacy, ensuring that others facing similar challenges will have access to the comprehensive care and compassion that Wellspring offers.

Christina Smith, CEO of Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation, expressed her gratitude, saying, “We are profoundly grateful for Karen Green’s extraordinary generosity. Her remarkable bequest will enable us to expand our reach and provide even more individuals with the support and resources they need to navigate their cancer journeys. Karen’s contribution embodies the spirit of giving back and will touch countless lives for years to come.”

In recognition of Karen Green’s gift, Wellspring has erected a prominent sign at Wellspring Westerkirk House, located just steps away from Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. The Karen Green Supportive Cancer Care Wing will stand as a tribute to her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those affected by cancer.

Karen Green’s heartfelt sentiments about Wellspring capture the essence of the organization’s impact. She once shared, “Many years ago, following my diagnosis and during treatment for breast cancer, I found myself alone. I needed support, and I longed for someone to talk to about what I was going through. I reached out to Wellspring for help and soon found myself to be part of something that ‘just spoke to me’ in every way I needed most. Wellspring supported me when I needed it most, it has provided me with life-long friendships along the way, and now I’m grateful to be able to give something in return.”

This generous bequest gift from Karen Green serves as a testament to the impact Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation has on individuals facing the challenges of cancer. It strengthens the organization’s resolve to continue providing unparalleled support and services to the cancer community.
