Dorothy was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2025. During a time when life could easily become overwhelming, she found a place at Wellspring where she could feel safe and supported.
“Wellspring has been home for me, a safe place where I can find support.”
The programs have also given Dorothy moments when she can step away from what she is going through, enjoy herself and simply have some fun.
Her experience is one of the reasons she decided to take part in the Big Walk. She wants more people to know that cancer can affect anyone, but they don’t have to navigate it without support.
For Dorothy, raising awareness and funds is about helping make sure that support continues to be there for others.
As she says, cancer research is important, but cancer support is important too.
And when it comes to the Big Walk, Dorothy is determined: whether she has to walk or crawl, she plans to make it to that finish line.
