Angela’s Story: Finding a Place to Feel at Home

October 16, 2026

For Angela, finding Wellspring NB was about so much more than finding a place to take classes. After years of living with breast cancer and searching for people who truly understood what she was going through, she found something she hadn’t realized she was missing: a community where she felt welcome, supported, and understood.

Angela’s cancer journey began in 2018 and continued through a second diagnosis in 2020. In 2025, she learned her cancer had spread, resulting in a stage 4 metastatic breast cancer diagnosis. Today, she continues treatment while focusing on living well and making the most of each day.

When Angela first walked through the doors of Wellspring Bannon House in early 2026, she immediately felt at ease.

“When I entered Wellspring-Bannon House it was an immediate feeling of home. It was warm and inviting.”

What started with a gentle yoga class soon became a regular part of her life. Through exercise programs, yoga, nutrition classes, and Cameras for Healing, Angela has gained strength, confidence, and new skills. But it is the friendships she has built that have made the biggest difference.

“The community at Wellspring-Bannon House has had a significant impact on my healing; physically, socially, and psychologically.”

After years of looking for others who shared similar experiences, Angela found people who truly understand the highs, lows, and uncertainty that come with living with cancer. Strangers became friends, and Wellspring became a place where she could celebrate victories, share challenges, and feel supported every step of the way.

One of her most memorable moments was sharing positive CT scan results with her Wellspring friends. Their excitement, hugs, and encouragement reminded her just how meaningful it is to celebrate good news with people who understand what those moments mean.

Today, Angela is passionate about helping others discover the same support she found. After encouraging a fellow cancer patient to give Wellspring a try, she was delighted to see her walk through the doors just days later for her first class.

“Wellspring has been my soft landing place and I know I don’t have to go through cancer alone.”

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Angela hopes her story reminds others affected by cancer that they don’t have to face it alone. Sometimes, all it takes is one small step through a welcoming door to find friendship, belonging, and a community that feels like home.

Wellspring NB helps people live better with cancer through programs offered at no cost and without referral.
