ADAPT Through Grief

How to regain control when facing cancer

Grief is a natural response to loss – but loss isn’t limited to the death of a loved one.

For people living with cancer, grief can arise from many experiences: the loss of health, independence, certainty, future plans, physical abilities, relationships, identity, or the life you expected. Caregivers may also experience grief as they navigate changes in their loved one and their own lives.

ADAPT Through Grief is a six-week professionally facilitated group program designed to help participants better understand and navigate the many forms of grief that can accompany cancer. Through guided discussion, practical tools, and personal reflection, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of your own grief experience while learning healthy ways to move through it with greater self-awareness and self-compassion.

Based on J. William Worden’s evidence-informed Tasks of Grief framework, the program recognizes that grief is not something to “get over.” Instead, it supports participants in adapting to life’s changes, making sense of loss, and discovering ways to move forward while honouring what has changed.

Whether you are living with cancer, living with chronic cancer, or caring for someone with cancer, this program offers a safe, supportive environment where your experiences will be understood and respected.
