The link between alcohol and cancer

Alcohol is classified as a Group One carcinogen and is estimated to be among the top three causes of cancer deaths globally. Despite this, over 40 percent of Canadians are unaware that alcohol consumption raises the risk of developing at least nine types of cancer. In this webinar, we examine the known and unknown aspects of the relationship between alcohol and cancer. Learn about the Canadian Cancer Society’s efforts to raise awareness of alcohol as a modifiable cancer risk factor, its dedication to funding world-leading research on this topic, and its advocacy for stronger policies to reduce and increase awareness about the cancer risks associated with alcohol consumption.

Facilitator: Brandon Purcell, Advocacy Manager for Prevention and Early Detection at the Canadian Cancer Society.
