Wellspring is proud to introduce a new six-week program: Body Image Awareness Seminar (BIAS) – a supportive group experience designed to help individuals living with cancer develop a healthier and more compassionate relationship with their bodies.
This program is grounded in research conducted in partnership with PhD student, Carly MaGee from Brock University. In May 2021, Carly collaborated with Wellspring to adapt and pilot a group-based program that explored the complex relationship between cancer and body image. The pilot revealed meaningful outcomes: participants reported reduced body image distress and improvements in appearance evaluation, self-worth, self-compassion, and appreciation for what their bodies could do.
Results of this pilot, now published in a peer-reviewed journal, highlight the program’s impact.
Based on this success, Wellspring is excited to offer the Body Image Awareness Seminar (BIAS).
