Statement Regarding Closure of Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto

August 24, 2026

Like many across the cancer support community, we were saddened to learn that Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto has ceased operations after many years of serving individuals and families affected by cancer. Our thoughts are with the members, volunteers, staff, and supporters who have been part of that community over the years.

We want to reassure our members that Wellspring is committed to our mission and to providing the evidence-based programs and services that thousands of people rely on every year.

What makes news like this particularly difficult is that it reminds us how critical psychosocial cancer support is. Beyond treatment, people need places where they can find understanding, practical guidance and support, and most of all, community. Every day, we see the difference that connection and support make in the lives of our members, and we remain deeply committed to ensuring those services continue to be available.

For anyone who was connected to Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto and is looking for support, we want you to know that you are welcome at Wellspring. Our programs are available at no charge and include individual and group support, coping and symptom management, exercise and wellness programs, educational workshops, peer support, and resources for caregivers and families. We also offer programs online and in-person in Toronto, Oakville, and at various centers across the country. To get started, visit: https://wellspring.ca/wellspring-welcomes-former-gildas-members/

This news is also a reminder of the importance of the cancer support community and those who make these free of charge programs possible – the generosity of donors, volunteers, healthcare partners, and advocates who believe that no one should face cancer alone. We are so grateful for that support.

If you have questions, please reach out to your local Wellspring centre or contact our team at communications@wellspring.ca or 1-877-499-9904. And if you, or anyone you know, has been impacted by cancer, reach out for support by signing up with Wellspring and registering for programs right away.

Together, we will continue to ensure that people living with cancer have access to the support, connection, and community they deserve.
