LeVan Family Foundation ‘Adopts’ Nourish

July 28, 2023

“My father (Richard LeVan) worked very hard to build a successful business, but unfortunately, in 2003, he was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer and passed away. He was just 68 years old. However, our family was fortunate to benefit from his success, and about ten years ago, my mother (Jane LeVan) set up the LeVan Family Foundation within the Oakville Community Foundation. She wanted to be able to share these benefits with others,” said Sally Frackowiak. The four LeVan siblings take turns deciding which organizations to support annually.

In 2022 it was Sally’s turn to direct the donations from the fund. She chose to support Wellspring. Sally has volunteered with Wellspring since 2003 as a peer support volunteer and, more recently, managing the busy front desk. “I find that being part of Wellspring is good for my soul. I connect with people in real ways and know I’m making a difference in their lives. It keeps me grounded.”

Through a very generous donation, Sally directed the LeVan Family Foundation support toward the Nourish series of programs at Wellspring as part of the Adopt-A-Program initiative introduced last year. “While I like all the programs at Wellspring, I find there is always such a happy buzz in the centre when a Nourish program is in session. The members participating don’t need to focus on their troubles. Instead, they share an enjoyable time with others; they learn about staying healthy through food and taste and try new recipes.

I’ve been around Wellspring long enough to see donations’ direct impact on members’ lives. The money goes directly to the program, and we all get to see how it is used. I hope this donation helps the Nourish program continue to flourish in the coming years.”
