Community Norms & Expectations

Community Norms and Expectations

Wellspring programs provide a safe and supportive space for sharing, learning, and connection. To help ensure that everyone feels respected, heard, and cared for, we ask all participants to uphold the following norms and expectations.

Creating a Safe and Supportive Space

  • Treat one another with kindness, respect, and compassion. We welcome and value people of all backgrounds, identities, cultures, abilities, genders, sexual orientations, and lived experiences.
  • In group situations, create equal opportunity for those who wish to share.
  • When possible, keep your video on to help foster connection and community.

Respecting Differences

  • Every person’s experience with cancer is unique. Please speak from your own experience.
  • Refrain from giving medical or treatment advice.
  • Hear all perspectives with compassion, openness and without judgment.
  • Share healthcare experiences respectfully, without naming providers or making broad negative statements.

Confidentiality and Privacy

  • What is shared in the group stays in the group. Personal stories or information shared by others must not be repeated outside the session.
  • Program Leaders are bound by confidentiality and will not share participant contact information.
  • Online participants may display their full name or first names only.
  • Recording, taking screenshots, or downloading transcripts is not permitted.
  • Confidentiality will be maintained unless there is a concern for harm to oneself or others.

Respecting the Space

  • Only attend programs you are registered for. Registration is required in advance.
  • Refrain from using phones or multitasking during sessions to stay present and engaged.
  • Wellspring is a scent-free environment. To protect those with sensitivities, avoid using scented products, such as perfumes, colognes, and body sprays before visiting our centres.
  • For online programs, join from a private, quiet location whenever possible. If privacy is limited, please use headphones.

No Promotion or Solicitation

  • Wellspring programs are a space for mutual support — not for promoting or selling products or services.

By participating in Wellspring programs, you help uphold a caring, respectful, and compassionate community where everyone can feel safe and supported.
