Judy’s Story: A Lifeline in Loss

November 26, 2025

In 2018, I lost my husband to esophageal cancer and complications with pneumonia. It was an incredibly difficult and life-changing time, and my daughter began searching for ways to help me find support. That search led me to Wellspring Alberta, where I signed up for bereavement sessions later that year.

I can’t begin to find the right words to fully express how much Wellspring Alberta has meant to me. The programs I’ve attended, the people I’ve met and the compassionate support I’ve received there have given me the strength to keep moving forward. Wellspring has truly been a lifeline, helping me through some of my darkest days and reminding me that I am not alone.

I am deeply grateful for every single person who makes up the wonderful community at Wellspring Alberta. Their kindness, dedication, and understanding have made such a difference in my journey.

If you or someone you know is searching for support through a cancer journey, whether as a patient, survivor, or caregiver, I encourage you to reach out to Wellspring. It is a place filled with hope, strength, and connection, and it truly means the world to me.

How Judy’s Experience Reflects a Larger Need

Judy’s experience reflects exactly why Wellspring Alberta continues to deepen and expand its bereavement support. As shared in last week’s article on the expansion of Wellspring’s bereavement programming, many individuals navigating loss need ongoing, compassionate spaces to find understanding and community. Stories like Judy’s demonstrate the profound impact these supports can have and why Wellspring is dedicated to ensuring more people across Alberta can access the care, connection, and healing they deserve during one of life’s hardest moments.
