Rehabilitation Oncology is offered in both tertiary and regional centres including Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, and Lethbridge with Grande Prairie coming in the future. Rehabilitation Oncology involves a specialized multidisciplinary team that can help with managing symptoms related to your cancer such as pain, weakness, balance concerns, swelling, difficulty with swallowing, changes to cognition and stress management just to name a few. Available services to manage concerns include Physiotherapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy and Psychiatry. Rehab can be beneficial at various points in your cancer journey to assist with symptom management as well as improving well-being. Our goals are to help you engage in activities and maximize function. Lori Radke is a physiotherapist that has worked in Alberta for more than 30 years since graduating from the U of A in 1988. She gained oncology experience on the Palliative Home Care team in Calgary for 7 years until 2008. She moved to the TBCC to start the Rehabilitation Oncology program in 2009 and became a certified Lymphedema therapist. Lori is now the Clinical Practice Lead provincially for the Cancer Care Alberta Rehab teams. Kelsey Kenway is an Occupational Therapist who has been working with individuals with cancer at the Central Alberta Cancer Centre for 7 years. Her goal is to work with clients to manage symptoms, improve function, phys ical and mental health as well as overall quality of life.
