Hi friend,

When cancer came into my life, it made me stop. I couldn’t push through or keep “doing” the way I always had. I had to just “be”, and let someone else take care of me. In that stillness my life flashed before my eyes, and the thing I regretted most was how much of it I’d spent in the “doing” and how little in the “being”. I hadn’t let myself rest. I hadn’t let myself be present.

Cancer taught me that life doesn’t last forever, and that when something calls to you, you answer it now, because later isn’t guaranteed. Painting was my answer. Water, light, sunsets, the quiet rhythm of nature. It gave me somewhere soft to land, and it still does.

So this collection had to give something back.

On Tuesday, November 17, from 10 am to 2 pm, I’m launching Coastal Bliss in Delft Blue at the Onoway Handmade Market and Decor a cash-only store in Onoway, Alberta, with an art sale and fundraiser for Wellspring Alberta. A portion of the proceeds from every original and print sold that day goes directly to Wellspring.

Wellspring offers free programs for people living with cancer, survivors, and the family and friends walking beside them. They offer connection and belonging, gentle movement, support for pain, fatigue and distress, and art classes too. No referral is needed and there’s no cost, ever, because every program is funded by people who give. I know how much that kind of support matters, and I want more people to have it.

Come meet me, choose an original or print for the friend in the middle of treatment, a mom who never stops giving, or someone who just needs to know they’re seen, and take home a piece or give a piece that does good long after it’s purchased. Plus, I’d love to meet you and give you a hug in person.

Art painted by a survivor, for those who have walked and are still walking the journey.
