Thanks to your kind and caring support, in a year of significant change, you can help transform the lives of those living with cancer.Imagine what it is like for people living with cancer. Imagine this frightening world health crisis alongside your own health challenge. Maybe you don’t have to imagine, perhaps you know cancer all too well. After all, one in two of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetime[1].
Wellspring Calgary’s programs are the lifeline that people facing cancer
need more than ever in these very difficult times.
I am writing you today with a request. At Wellspring, we need your help as we all navigate the largest health crisis of our modern time. Cancer is not cancelled, and there is a long road ahead of us. To address the additional needs brought on by the pandemic, we’ve experienced an increase in requests to collaborate with our health and community partners in new and creative ways, without additional funding support. COVID-19 has also disrupted cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment[2], which has created backlogs, will negatively affect cancer outcomes, and creates additional distress for those we serve – a need which Wellspring is preparing for.
In the words of one Wellspring Calgary member: Now, it is certainly NOT a “club” we desire to belong to, but, in our journeys with cancer, I cannot fathom not being part of Wellspring. The understanding quiet when I am struggling, or the enthusiastic support and encouragement when my day has been a good one, the spiritual moments contained in the Yoga sessions, or the insightful chuckles as I attempt to “remember” during a Brain Fog Class, or the bell that rings when I use negative connotations in reference to my artistic ability. These are all the connections that I have encountered and benefitted from in my short time of being a PROUD Wellspring Member. – Rhonda Vinje AndersonWellspring’s commitment to our members – those diagnosed, caregivers and kids – drives us to deliver our evidence-informed programs and services cost-effectively and efficiently, and at no cost to those who are living with cancer.
When you give through our matching campaign by July 15,
you double the value of your investment in Wellspring.
We are honoured at this critical time to have the Pareto Foundation and an anonymous donor offer to match all Wellspring Calgary donations, up to $110,000! We invite you to give and invite others you know to share this opportunity to support programs that are so vital to those living with cancer.

As an organization that relies solely on donations and revenue from events, Wellspring has been deeply affected financially by this current health crisis. Without our normal fundraising events and activities, we cannot meet the growing needs of those diagnosed with cancer and their families. Wellspring’s response to this health crisis will be our most transformational work – as there are no other organizations in Calgary and across southern Alberta committed to solely providing community-based supportive care for the vulnerable population we are privileged to serve. I want you to know, your loyal generosity is inspiring hope for all of us – helping ensure no one has to face cancer alone.
