Doing our part – Wellspring Calgary re-entry update

We know this pandemic has not been easy on anyone, let alone those living with cancer.

While we were hopeful to be opening our doors before the end of the year, in light of the current situation and regulations, that now seems unlikely. Although we do not have a date yet as to when we will open our centres and provide in-person programs, we want you to be aware of the process we are undertaking.

As has been the case throughout the pandemic, Wellspring Calgary will continue to take a very conservative approach to in-person reopening, including Calgary centres, off-site programs, and southern Alberta engagement, as we remain committed to keeping the people we serve as safe as possible. It’s important to us to aligned with the Medical Officer of Health and the Government of Alberta, our partners Cancer Care Alberta, and the Wellspring network.

Our cherished members are our most important priority and we want to do everything we can to ensure our Wellspring Calgary community is as safe as possible. We continue to plan for a phased re-entry, first bringing just staff together in the centres, then adding volunteers and program leaders, followed by welcoming our members and the public. Programming will also be phased, starting with one program in the morning and one program in the afternoon at each centre.

We will require full vaccination for all of our staff, and those volunteers and program leaders providing in-person support. This is consistent with the policies set forth by the Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation, as well as many other health-serving organizations in Alberta. We take pride in the safety of our Wellspring community and are so thankful to our staff, volunteers and program leaders for helping us keep this promise to our members.

Please be assured that we will continue to offer online programs moving forward, so our members can continue to benefit from Wellspring Calgary’s programs and community, regardless of where they are.

We understand that members, volunteers, program leaders and staff will experience diverse and individual feelings about returning to in-person programs and we will be both open to and respectful of every person’s individual feelings, choices and circumstances.

We are committed to updating everyone as we go and giving as much notice as possible about reopening.
