Thanks to the remarkable support of our community, we are happy to share that 2023 was an incredible year for our organization! This support allowed us to meet the growing number of members and their changing needs for supportive cancer care, and develop new programs that fill current gaps in the care of cancer patients.
In 2023, Wellspring Alberta expanded our reach significantly, launching our first in-person programs beyond Calgary and Edmonton in Lethbridge and Red Deer. This expansion was crucial in addressing the higher cancer incidences and limited healthcare access in rural Alberta. Our programs, driven by increasing demand and waitlists, continued to make a profound impact: 91% of our members reported decreased social isolation, 93% saw improvements in mental health, and 77% experienced reduced distress.
These efforts have not gone unnoticed; Wellspring Alberta is a key partner in the cancer care continuum, helping to ease the burden on our healthcare system by providing important psychosocial and practical support. Every achievement, every advancement, and every moment of what we do is made possible by our extensive community of support.
