Wellspring Alberta is very pleased to announce today that after an extensive search, it has appointed Joanne Aime as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Joanne will join the team as CEO as of January 27, 2025.
“I am truly honoured to join Wellspring Alberta as the new CEO,” says Joanne Aime. “The organization’s dedication to supporting Albertans living with cancer and their caregivers is inspiring, and I am excited to work alongside such a passionate team of staff, volunteers and community partners in the months ahead.”
Joanne comes to Wellspring Alberta with an energetic and compassionate mindset. She has a strong background in people and operational leadership, governance, strategic planning and fiscal management. Joanne came to the notice of Wellspring Alberta after having closely worked on the design, build and commissioning of the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre for over six years.
Speaking on behalf of the board, board chair Bill Gilliland says, “We feel certain Joanne will provide Wellspring Alberta with incredibly strong leadership, allowing us to continue to flourish and advance our vision to ensure no one has to face cancer alone.”
Joanne has led an impressive 32-year career as an accomplished leader, with more than 20 years of experience leading teams. She has worked on many large-scale, complex and multi-phase initiatives across a variety of non-profit and for-profit sectors, including a leadership role in the design and build of two health care facilities valued at over $1 billion each. Joanne holds a strong relationship with Wellspring Alberta’s valued partner, Cancer Care Alberta, and served as co-chair of the Patient and Family Advisory Committee (PFAC) for the Cancer Centre project for over five years.
Joanne will take over from Sheena Clifford, who has been acting as Interim CEO. Sheena will continue at Wellspring Alberta to assist with the transition until February 28, 2025.
